Bergplaats Honeymoons presents the perfect romantic getaway for newlyweds.

Situated 80 kilometers outside Beaufort West in the heart of the Karoo, Bergplaats Game Farm is the ideal place to escape the everyday grind of worldly cares and celebrate your marriage in the rich glow of a Karoo sunset. The endless veldt stretches in front of you in all of God’s glory, and a ragged mountain enfolds you in its comforting clasp. Antelopes graze on the plains, bearing witness to your happiness. Bergplaats Honeymoons guarantees that your time here will be special and memorable, carefree and fun.

Accommodation:

Honeymooners are accommodated in the Private Guest Suite, with a private lounge and dining area. The adventurous, or those seeking complete isolation, can also spend a night or two at “God’s Window”, a mountain lodge that takes its name from the breathtaking view of the world spreading beyond the patio.

Activities:

We offer a wide range of activities to fill up the lazy emptiness of your honeymoon bliss, should you be so inclined.  Early risers can cath the world coming to life on a game rive or a horseback drive.  Those who prefer to sleep in, can enjoy breakfast at their leisure and traverse one of the 4x4 routes in search of Zebra,  From rock climbing to bird watching (Bergplaats boasts more than 300 species), we cater for every need and preference.

After lunch, and perhaps a light nap, you can take a late afternoon hike up the side of the mountain to watch as the dusk settles on the arid grandeur of the Karoo. Returning, you can indulge in one of our specialities: a romantic bush supper. This event offers the finest traditional catering served in the midst of the wilderness, lighted by the soft glow of lanterns and firelight, with only the occasional gaze of an inquisitive antelope looking in from the darkness around. And spread above you, a sight that has to be seen, to be believed, the luminous brilliance of the mythical Karoo sky, studded with brilliant stars.

Bergplaats is 450 kilometers from Cape Town. It is easily accessible by car, and we offer a private jet charter service to our newly laid landing strip from all the major airports in South Africa. Getting to and from your honeymoon destination will present no difficulty at all – the only difficult part will be to break the spell of your romantic getaway when you do decide to leave! To make sure your honeymoon is an event to be treasured for the rest of your life, come to Bergplaats, and let the Karoo whisk you away.

The wedding is over, the champagne has been popped and drunk, the last guests have waved you off as you embark on your magical celebration of love for each other, your honeymoon. Where better to spend this romantic holiday than under the splendour of the African skies? And where better to experience the raw, unspoilt beauty of nature than at Bergplaats Game Farm?

ONSE RUS GUESTHOUSE - PRINCE ALBERT

( 0 Votes )
onserus1 onserus2 onserus3 swartberge1

Onse Rus Guesthouse - Prince Albert:  Onse Rus has been at the heart of Prince Albert, since 1852, capturing its warm and friendly ambience under its thatched roof.  And has since evolved into a comfortable 4 star accredited guesthouse. Here you will immediately feel at home as you slow down to the relaxed pace of country living.  On arrival you will be offered tea and homemade cake of the day, served in the garden next to the pool.

Each of the 5 ensuite rooms offer its own special character with private entrances and patios away from the main house.  This affords our guests a level of privacy not normally associated with a guesthouse.  Coffee and tea making facilities are available in 3 of the rooms.  2 Rooms get served morning coffee or tea.  Inclusive in your stay will be our sumptious farmstyle breakfast made from local produce.  We also offer dinner on request, from a light meal to a full 3 course traditional Karoo meal.

Onse Rus also offers tailor made trips with a registered tour operator to Gamkaskloof, known as "Die Hel" (The Hell), a remote and secluded valley in the Swartberg, where a community lived in self imposed isolation for more than a 100 years. On your way you will of course stop for delicious tea, home made scones and cream.  You will be travelling through spectacular mountain scenery, ideal for the avid photographer and birding enthusiasts.  The day is spent exploring this magnificent valley and experiencing an insight into a way of life long forgotten.  An alfresco style lunch is served under the oak tree with excellent wine from the local winery, Bergwater.

Prince Albert is the gateway to the mighty Swartberg. Travelling via Meiringspoort or the Swartberg pass, will take you through some of the most breathtaking mountian scenery in South Africa to the Southern edge of the Great Karoo.  This massive range forms the Southern edge of the African continental plate.  Its tortured rock formations thrusting high above the plains bears timeless testimony to the ancient tectonic collisions of a world in the making.  Here the Creator definately had fun.

More than anything else Onse Rus is a place to slow down and forget the hectic pace of the urban life and rediscover the bare essentials, such as sunsets and thunderstorms over the plains, clear morning air and night skies crowded with stars.

Come and visit us!
